Questions people ask
The things people usually ask about.
Is irlmap.live free?
Yes. And the privacy features (dead zones, the stream delay, live-only recording) will stay free.
Do I need to install an app?
No. You can send GPS from your phone’s browser. If you want it to keep working with the screen off, apps like Traccar Client or OwnTracks work too.
Does it work with Kick or YouTube?
Not yet. It’s Twitch only right now, because both the login and the “are you live?” check go through Twitch.
Does it track me when I’m not streaming?
No. Anything sent while your Twitch channel is offline is discarded when it arrives. It’s never stored.
Who can see my location?
While you’re live: your viewers, through your overlays and chat commands, and anyone on the public map (you can turn that off). Dead zones, pause and the stream delay apply to all of it. While you’re offline: nobody.
Can I hide my home?
Yes. Draw a dead zone around it on the dashboard. Inside it you’re hidden everywhere, straight away.
How accurate is it?
As accurate as your GPS. Outside that’s usually within 5 to 15 metres. Indoors and between tall buildings it gets worse.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes. The browser page works while the screen is on. For background tracking use Traccar Client or OwnTracks.
The overlay in OBS says “Location hidden”. Why?
You’re not live on Twitch yet, you’ve paused, you’re in a dead zone, or nothing has sent a location yet.
Can I get my data out?
Yes. Every stream can be downloaded as GPX or KML from the dashboard, and you can delete any stream with everything in it.
Where does it work?
Anywhere. The maps come from OpenStreetMap, and weather and local time work worldwide.
Try it on your next stream
Free, and it takes about five minutes to set up.
