Your IRL stream, on a map
irlmap.live turns the GPS from your phone, BELABOX or tracking app into OBS overlays, and puts you on a live map while you stream. It’s free.
I made this because I wanted a mini map on my own IRL streams that looked good, didn’t need another app running on my phone, and didn’t tell the whole internet where I live. It grew from there.
What you get
Map overlay
A mini map for your stream. Video-game-style radars if you want, rotating with your heading and zooming out when you speed up.
Speed and stats
Speed, distance, top speed, altitude, incline, local time and weather. Your font, your colours.
Chat commands
!location, !speed, !eta and friends for Nightbot, StreamElements or your own bot.
Privacy controls
Dead zones, a stream delay, and nothing recorded unless you’re live.
Destination and ETA
Tell it where you’re heading and show the distance and time left on stream.
The public map
While you’re live you show up on irlmap.live, so new viewers can find you.
How it works
- Log in with Twitch. That’s your account. Nothing else to sign up for.
- Send your location. From your phone’s browser, a BELABOX with a GPS modem, or an app like Traccar or GPSLogger. Pick a guide.
- Add an overlay to OBS. Pick a preset, tweak it, paste the link into a Browser Source. Any change you make later shows up in OBS by itself.
When you go live on Twitch, your location starts flowing. When the stream ends, it stops. Anything your phone sends while you’re offline gets thrown away, not stored.
Privacy
You’re broadcasting where you are, so a few safety things come built in:
- Only while you’re live. Offline locations are discarded the moment they arrive.
- Dead zones. Your home, your hotel, a friend’s place. Walk into one and you disappear from every overlay and the map.
- Stream delay. Everything public can run a few minutes behind you, in sync with your stream delay.
- A pause button for when you just want a break.
More on that on the privacy page.
Try it on your next stream
Free, and it takes about five minutes to set up.
